Economics Club

Club Sponsor:  Mr. McCormick and Ms. Arbeiter

Club Overview:

The Lambert Economics Club is designed to offer a comprehensive environment for students interested in economics, divided into two sections: the Lambert Economics Club and the Lambert Economics Team. The club aims to foster an interest in economics among students by providing opportunities for learning, engagement, and competition. While the club is open to all students, the team is an admissions-based group selected through testing and interviews to represent Lambert High School in national and international competitions.

Officers:

The club and team will be managed by an officer team that ensures smooth operations and successful execution of activities and events. The officer roles are as follows:
 - President: Neal Karani
 - Vice President: Arhan Barve
 - Head of Operations: [Open Position] Responsible for managing club activities, monthly meetings, testing sessions, and officer team communication.
 - Communications Officer: [Open Position] Responsible for managing social media posts and maintaining the club’s online presence.
 - Research Officer: [Open Position] In charge of coordinating the research wing and judging sessions.
 - Competition Officer: [Open Position] Tasked with researching and identifying various competitions for the team to participate in, ensuring the team has ample opportunities to compete and excel.
 - More officer positions may be created based on need and/or strength of applicants.

We will be announcing officer applications in early September and will be communicating more information on GroupMe and Instagram.

Club Meetings or Activities:

The Lambert Economics Club will hold regular monthly meetings that include discussions, educational sessions, and activities centered around economics and investments. The club will also prepare a curriculum covering basic concepts of microeconomics, macroeconomics, investing, and personal finance. Additionally, monthly testing sessions or tryouts will be conducted to identify and recruit talented individuals for the Lambert Economics Team. Members who perform well in these tests will be interviewed and considered for the team.

Our first club meeting will be Wednesday, August 28th at 7:45 AM in Ms. Arbeiter’s room (#2866). We will be announcing officer applications and competition opportunities at this meeting, so please make sure to attend.

To keep members motivated and engaged, the club will offer a research wing. Members can work individually or in groups to create comprehensive economics research projects. Quarterly judging sessions will be held, and the top three projects will earn the opportunity to collaborate with college professors and present their work at the collegiate level. This initiative aims to provide members with valuable research experience and incentivize continued involvement in the club.

Communications:

All communications for the Lambert Economics Club will be handled through GroupMe (https://groupme.com/join_group/102537192/tyPsBYbN) for direct messaging, all important information, updates, and announcements. We will also be utilizing the club’s Instagram (@lamberteconomics) page to expand the reach of the club and broadcast our competition performance.
