FORSYTH COUNTY ATTENDANCE POLICY

Student Check-In:

  • Students are to be in the classroom by 8:25 AM when school begins.
  • If arriving after 8:25 AM students are tardy and should report directly to the Attendance Office to receive a tardy pass to class. 

Student Check-Out:

  • Check-out requests are ONLY for students who drive to school.
  • Emails must be received first thing in the morning on the day of check-out and originate from the email address registered in Parent Portal.
  • Please include student name, student ID number, check-out time, and parent contact info.
  • No phone check-outs will be accepted.
  • If your student does not drive, you must come to the Attendance window IN PERSON with your picture ID to check your student out. Please have your child’s student ID number handy (pro tip: store the ID number on your phone.)
  • Anyone checking out your student MUST be on your list of contacts in Parent Portal. If they are not on the list, we cannot allow your student to leave. To add a contact, go to Demographics>Add in your Parent Portal account.
  • If it is necessary for your student to check-out early due to illness, they must see the school nurse first. Our nurse may require that the parent or guardian provide approval prior to the student leaving school premises or it may be necessary for the student to be picked up.  

 WE WILL NOT PROCESS ANY CHECK-OUTS AFTER 3:15 PM. PLEASE ARRIVE TO SCHOOL BEFORE THIS TIME.

STUDENTS WHO LEAVE CAMPUS WITHOUT CHECKING OUT PROPERLY WILL BE CONSIDERED SKIPPING AND WILL FACE DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS.

Excused Absences:

  • Excuses for absences must be submitted via email. Phone calls will not be accepted.
  • Medical notes must be submitted via email or dropped off to the Attendance Office within five (5) days of the student’s return to school.
  • Excused absences will be reflected in your student’s portal within five (5) days. Thank you for your patience.
  • After 10 absences without a medical note being submitted, a medical note will be required to excuse an absence. If the student has a combination of 10 check-ins and/or check-outs without medical notes, medical notes will be required to excuse an absence. 

College Visits:

Juniors and Seniors are excused to visit colleges during the school year for no more than 4 days per year. To have the visit excused, the student must bring documentation from the school indicating that the school visit occurred. This documentation can be emailed or dropped off at the Attendance window. 

Driver's License/Learner's Permit:

Students are required to have a Certificate of School Enrollment completed by the school before they can get a learner’s permit or a driver’s license. They are also required to have an ADAP (Alcohol & Drug Awareness) Certificate to obtain a driver’s license. These forms are not available in electronic copy; they must be picked up in the Attendance Office.

Students may stop by the Attendance Office to pick up a notarized Certificate of School Enrollment.

ADAP Certificate

If your student took Health in person, at Lambert High School, they may stop by the Attendance Office to pick up their ADAP Certificate. Students who took Health online through GAVS or FVA will get their certificate from the DDS website. Lambert does not have access to any of these online certificates.
